Jiva Hill Park Hotel, Spa and Golf club, Crozets, Rhone Alps

Jiva Hill is a place that I am lucky enough to visit several times a year.  Not always for a gastronomic lunch but to play a round of golf from time to time, when I’m not busy studying for my diploma, photographing or blogging! Walking this course surrounded by the amazing scenery, the magnificent Jura on one side, the Saleve and Alps on the other and rolling green countryside all around makes for a grand day out!

I have enjoyed a good lunch at Jiva Hill a few times now, whether it is the plat du jour, the a la Carte menu in the Shamwari restaurant, or a bar lunch, the food has been consistently good, as has the service; however, today was a gastronomic delight.  We chose the ‘Menu Saveur’ and what a treat this was, luckily we indulged in this menu after playing 18 holes of golf. We sat out on the terrace in glorious sunshine, looking over the 18th hole to the lake and towards the Saleve pre-alps mountain range and french alps in the distance.

This menu consists of 8 courses: canapes, mise en bouche, starter, main course, cheese, pre-dessert, dessert, coffee and petits fours – wow!! we needed a seriously good walk after this lot!

This is a lunch to be savoured and enjoyed, taking your time to enjoy the surroundings and excellent food and service.  Each course was announced and there are 2 choices of each course.  This menu is offered at €53.00 which I think is very good value for the quality, flavours and presentation of the dishes, but you need to allow the time for your gastro experience.

Next came the cheeses, all local cheeses served
with homemade breads and a little salad with walnuts

Before dessert came the pre dessert…once again beautifully presented

Fine tarte aux abricots pochés au romarin a pannacotta à la pêche

And finally after indulging in the tasty dessert with such a great flavoured pannacotta, believing our eating marathon was over…but oh no, with the café came these gorgeous little petits fours – all homemade and delicious, especially the little chocolate delights decorated with gold leaf

Jiva Hill is a 5-star hotel and a great place to go and enjoy the scenery, breathtaking mountain landscapes, a luxury spa, a great nine hole golf course and being a Relais and Chateaux hotel, one can enjoy a great stay!
