Food & Wine Festivals and Events in France in March and April 2019
There are many Food and Wine Festivals in France and here is my second post in this series. The Food and Wine Festivals for March and April in France. These two months offering everything from giant omelettes, many cheese tasting festivals, a colourful Venetian Carnival to wine tasting events and a celebration of the Coquille Saint Jacques. Why not plan your French holiday around a festival nearby!

Sarlat Fest’Oie
2nd and 3rd March
This annual festival celebrates the much-revered goose of this region. You can expect gaggles of geese wandering and honking through the stunning medieval town of Sarlat. There will be food tastings, bands playing, workshops and demonstrations and a great banquet.

Venetian Carnival, Annecy
15th – 17th March
Whilst not strictly a food or wine festival, I couldn’t leave out The fabulous Venetian Carnival in one of my favourite places to eat! This is an amazing spectacle to see around the lakeside of Annecy. The beautiful costumes, a great parade and contest for the best dressed! Get up close and mingle with the masques!

Randonee Gourmande in Laguiole
Sunday 17th March

A 12km, 18 or 201 km Randonee Gourmande in Laguiole – there are three places to start from at the ski stations in the Midi Pyrenees region. If you love walking and tasting local produce this event Is for you! Discover the cheeses and local wines of this region.

Gout de France – Fete de la Gastronomie en France
21st – 24th March

This is a National Celebration of Gastronomy throughout France, celebrated by french chefs and food producers – to check who is participating in your area visit the website and put in your department.

Wednesday 27th March

A Tasty tour of Comté in Meribel
Friday 29th – Sunday 31st March

A Tasty tour of Comté cheese in Meribel in the Savoie, Rhone Alps region. Cheese and local produce tastings and cooking demonstrations for this three day event in the ski resort of Meribel. More info here.

Wine and cheese tasting festival in The Bourgogne at Is-sur-Tille. This is a big event for this region and for it’s 27th edition the Burgundy region will show off it’s local produce, fine wine and cheeses with more than 50 exhibitors. Full programme here.

An artisanal market showcasing cheeses and local products in Montbrun les Bains in the Drome region in the South of France. Cheese tastings and wines from The Savoie. Visit their website for full details.
The Fete de la Chèvre
Sunday 7th April

Goat Festival in the pretty historic village of Rognes near Aix en Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in southern France. This is the 23rd year for the Festival de la Chèvre. Goats cheese tastings, demonstrations of cheese making, cooking classes, tours, musicians and local artisans stands.
International Cheese and Wine Fair in Coulommiers
Friday 12 – Monday 15 April

International cheese and wine fair in Coulommiers in the Seine-et-Marne region of France, east of Paris. This is an agricultural fair promoting regional wines and cheeses. Over 350 exhibitors including craftsmen and women in the culinary trade will exhibit for this four-day gastronomique event which includes competitions, product and wine tastings, including a Brie cheese contest and guess how much the cow weighs! There is evening entertainments, dinner and live music. Full programme on their website

The Salon of Wine and Cheese in Cazals-Salviac
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th April

The Salon of wine and cheese in Cazals-Salviac in The Lot in Occitanie in the South West. A traditional festival that attracts a great number of visitors and the grand wines and well-known cheeses of the region are all represented here. Including Sainte Nectaire, Rocamadour, Cantal and local produce including beers, chestnuts, walnuts and walnut oils, olive oils, honey, nougat, saffron and oysters. Giant Omelette festival
Saturday 20 – Monday 22 April

This amazing and well-known Giant Omelette Festival is over Easter or ‘Paques’ as it is known in France in Bessieres in the Haute Garonne about 30 minutes north of Toulouse. Full programme on site
Fête de la Coquille Saint Jacques
Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2019

Fête de la Coquille Saint Jacques and Music in Paimpol in Northern Brittany. This is a scallop and music festival not to be missed. There will be expositions by local fishermen, demonstrations and tastings, visits out on boats, much seafood to eat and great music. There will be many bands playing throughout the weekend in different locations in the town of Paimpol – check out the full programme here

I would enjoy so many of these festivals, especially the wine and cheese ones – and the giant omelette fest! So fun!
So lucky in France, there always seem to be a food item to celebrate! I’d love to go to the giant omelette festival one year!
Ok we seriously need to plan my visits better!! I wanna do that Randonnee!! And of course Annecy Carnival… let’s do it next year!
