The restaurant 1er Mets in Annecy is right up there on my list of favourite restaurants in Annecy. Gaelle and Nicolas have been running this great restaurant in Annecy since September 2015 and in my opinion, they have a fabulous place! Nicolas the chef/owner has a wealth of experience in Michelin starred restaurants. He worked as a chef at the Clos des Sens in Annecy le Vieux and was the chef de cuisine at Contresens before opening the Restaurant 1er Mets in Annecy.

Menus

There are several menus to choose from – ranging in price from €24 for The Menu Affaire up to €65 for the Découverte des Mets. We choose the Menu de Saison priced at €33 which included a choice of 2 starters and 2 main courses and any choice of dessert from the a la carte menu. This is a really good value menu, in my opinion – for perfectly cooked and beautifully presented dishes.

The starters were (Pictured above) Salade de pommes de terre, haddock fumé laque miso et tofu de raifort – raifort is french for horseradish.
(Pictured below) Panna cotta de champignons, oeuf parfait et asperges – the egg was perfect and hidden within, but when popped open it oozed a beautiful yolk!

The Main Courses

Onto the main courses – again stunningly presented and very tasty! A choice of a fish or meat dish. The fish dish was a fillet of Lieu Jaune – known as Pollock in English. Served top with coriander pesto and a puree of chickpeas.

The main course meat dish was a filet mignon of pork, served with black garlic and onions and a Jus Corsé.

Don’t miss desserts!

Oh my the selection of desserts is really great. It was hard to choose, but luckily I have friends who share!

Everything is freshly prepared using the finest ingredients – this to me was evident in the tastes. The passion of Nicolas’ cooking shines through in these dishes. This was my first visit and I can’t wait to go back. It is advisable to book as I tried 3 times to get a table before I had success – I can tell you it was worth the wait.

Restaurant 1er Mets is small and cosy. The atmosphere is friendly and warm. The service was perfect! The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner – closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Sunday evening.
