Back in Annecy and exploring Anto
Its great to be back in Annecy and have the opportunity to try a new restaurant: Anto
Anto is located where the much-loved Le Bilboquet restaurant was in the old town in Annecy. Le Bilboquet, a favourite among locals and visitors alike, was successfully run by M et Mme Besson for over 20 years until their retirement.
This new gem, Anto, opened its doors in October 2024 and is owned and run by chef Anthony Bisquerra, originally from the southwest of France. With many years of experience in various restaurants around France, Anthony spent the last five years as the head chef at L’Alpaga, the prestigious two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Megève.

During my visit for lunch, we enjoyed the balade gourmande. You can choose two, three or four courses, starting with a playful amuse-bouche. The entrée is a surprise crafted by the chef, followed by a choice of main dishes—fish, meat, or vegetarian—and rounded off with a choice of two desserts, one chocolate and one fruit-based. You can take two main dishes to create a four course experience, and a cheese plate is also offered.
From the warm welcome to the last bite, my lunch at Anto was excellent. Each dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully described. It was clear that the ingredients were top quality, carefully and precisely cooked giving delicious flavours whilst being quietly understated. The service was a good balance of friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The evening menu follows a similar theme, offering 3, 4, or 6 courses, with the options of 4 or 6 courses only on Friday and Saturday evenings and jours fériés.
Anto is open from Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, with only 26 covers in the restaurant, I’d highly recommend reserving your table in advance.
Awarded the Bib Gourmand in 2025, only six months after opening, they are obviously getting it right!
