Wild Beets Kitchen, Les Gets

Nestled in amongst all that melted cheese in the wonderful resort of Les Gets it is a refreshing change to find the ‘healthy option’. Les Gets is not short of great restaurants to sample the Savoyard specialities and great gourmet cuisine, but one thing it did lack, in my opinion, was something completely different…Enter Wild Beets Kitchen…

Chez Castillon – A Magical Place in France

Walking through that big blue door into the long high ceilinged hallway which leads to the gorgeous courtyard garden, terrace and pool, once again I am transported into my little haven of laughter, fun and relaxation. It wasn’t by accident that I found myself at Chez Castillon for the tenth time. Every week I have spent there since 2010 has been just wonderful. A journey of discovery; learning new skills, honing current skills and meeting and making new friends in this beautiful region of France.

My latest find is L’Esquisse Restaurant owned by Stéphane and Magali Dattrino.  Situated on the Rue Royale in the centre of Annecy, this little gem and it is a small restaurant takes only 18 covers for each sitting in the calm and tastefully decorated restaurant.

Reblochon, Sweet Potato and Jambon de Savoie Tart

I think I may be beginning to dream in French…or maybe I just dream in French cheese, especially when I eat a lot of it! Living in the Haute Savoie this is unavoidable but also delicious so I am not complaining although my jeans sometimes do! Every recipe I see with cheese in, I look for ways of adapting it to use Reblochon and other local and seasonal ingredients – it must be the time of year, as winter approaches and the snow is falling in the Alps and when all the ski resorts burst into life!
